Rajasthan or Land of Kings is India's largest state by area located on the western side of the country, comprising the inhospitable Thar Desert. Rajasthan is a historic State, including the ruins of the Indus Valley Civilisation, Hindu and Jain pilgrimage centres, wildlife sanctuaries including three tiger reserves, and tales of valour of the Rajput kings. It is probably because Rajasthan is a desert State that the erstwhile rulers created artificial lakes in and around their forts and palaces. Rajasthan is a truly gorgeous State in India and the lakes that dot the land almost as an oasis, raise the grandeur making Rajasthan a must-visit for tourists from all over the world.
