Uttarakhand is one beautiful State in India, starting at the foothills of the Himalayas and extending in its northern borders with high snow covered peaks and glaciers. It is also referred to as Devbhoomi, or the Land of the Gods. The State has a host of sites of high religious significance to the Hindus. Uttarakhand is also the State which is the source of the holy River Ganges. Uttarakhand is also the State which has many many lakes, rain fed and glacial. Many of the lakes require a trek through the mountains to reach them, while others are located within city premises.
